RAAF receives latest P-8A Poseidon aircraft

Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP Minister for Defence Industry, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP and Minister for Defence Industry, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC have announced receipt of the latest P-8A Poseidon aircraft into the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
Minister Pyne said this was another milestone in this important project to enhance Australia’s maritime security.

Counter-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive protection

To ensure Australian Defence Force personnel have the best possible protection, Defence has signed a $26 million five-year contract with the South Australian-based company, Babcock Pty Ltd, as prime vendor for Counter-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (C-CBRNE) support.

Babcock has been selected through a worldwide open tender process based on their ability to provide expertise and industry best practice to deliver the solution to Defence requirements.

Artillery round a direct hit

The Australian Army’s Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery (RAA) successfully tested the new Sensor-fused Munition for Artillery (SMArt) 155mm round during Exercise Chimera recently held at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area near Rockhampton.

Lieutenant Colonel Paul Duncan, Commanding Officer of 4 Regiment, RAA said that up until now the Australian Army Artillery had lacked a capability to efficiently and effectively engage and destroy heavy armoured fighting vehicles, such as main battle tanks.

Australian Army Skill at Arms Meeting 2019 Concludes

Over 300 of the world’s best military marksmen from 20 countries have fought for the internationally renowned shooter’s title of Champion Shot at the Australian Army Skill at Arms Meet (AASAM) in Puckapunyal, Victoria.

Sargeant Hamsan of Indonesia was awarded the title of Champion Shot by Chief of the Australian Army, Lieutenant General Rick Burr, AO, DSC, MVO, in a ceremony that recognised the 44-year history of one of the world’s largest military shooting competitions.

For the 12th time, Indonesia outperformed all competing teams with the highest aggregate score.

ADF and military partners train in humanitarian relief during Balikatan 19

A major international military exercise in the Philippines, jointly hosted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and United States Indo-Pacific Command, will launch from Manila today.

Exercise Balikatan 19 is designed to enhance regional military cooperation and interoperability during times of disaster or humanitarian crisis. This year’s focus is the ability to respond effectively to humanitarian and civic assistance events and security operations in South East Asia.
