Naval Group Australia and ASC Sign Framework Agreement for Attack Class

Just two weeks after the Strategic Partnering Agreement was signed, pen has been put to paper on another important document for the future of Australia's submarines.
The Government today announced the formal signing of a Framework Agreement between Naval Group Australia and ASC.
Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, said the Framework Agreement identified ways Naval Group Australia and ASC would collaborate for the provision of supplies and services to each other to support Australia’s sovereign submarine capability.

Defence Opens E-Communications Platform to Defence Families

MINISTER for Defence Personnel Darren Chester today announced Defence has extended the use of the ForceNet e-communication platform to Defence family members to improve communication with families.
ForceNet connects registered users within a secure online environment, allowing families to stay up-to-date with the latest information about their member’s unit and other Defence support services.
Mr Chester said Defence understands the unique demands placed on Defence members and their families.

Improved Defence health services for western Sydney

Assistant Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon David Fawcett, today announced the award of a contract for the delivery of upgrades to Defence health facilities in western Sydney.
Following a competitive tendering process, Defence has awarded a $5.8 million contract to Kane Constructions Pty Ltd for the refurbishment of the existing health centre at Holsworthy Barracks.
Minister Fawcett said the upgrades would help support the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to maintain and sustain health preparedness for ADF operational requirements.

Improved Defence health facilities for Western Australia

Assistant Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon David Fawcett, today announced the award of a contract for delivery of upgrades to Defence health facilities in Western Australia.
Following a competitive tendering process, Defence has awarded a $15.6 million contract to Badge Constructions Pty Ltd for the construction a new health centre at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne and refurbishment of the existing health centre at RAAF Base Pearce in Western Australia.

Improved Defence health facilities for Victoria

Assistant Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon David Fawcett, today announced the award of a contract for delivery of upgrades to Defence health facilities in Victoria.
Following a competitive tendering process, Defence has awarded the $14.4 million contract to Colin Joss & Co Pty Ltd for the construction of a new health centre at Latchford Barracks, South Bandiana in Victoria.
Minister Fawcett said the upgrades would help support the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to maintain and sustain health preparedness for ADF operational requirements.

Chief of the Defence Force officially welcomes newest ADFA members

The Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell, AO, DSC, today officially welcomed the Australian Defence Force Academy’s newest members during the annual Chief of the Defence Force Parade.

The Parade is an important tradition marking the successful transition from being a civilian, to the Australian Defence Force.

General Campbell congratulated the nearly 330 midshipmen and officer cadets on completing their initial military training, reminding them of their obligations as Australia’s future military leaders.

Leidos to Support Windows 10 within Defence

The Department of Defence has worked in partnership with industry to develop ICT platforms to support a contemporary end user environment for Windows 10.
Assistant Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon David Fawcett said Leidos delivered the new ICT platforms that will sustain Windows 10 and associated systems for Defence users on time and under budget.
“The delivery of this platform enabled the End User Computing project to migrate over 100,000 Defence users from Windows XP to Windows 10,” Minister Fawcett said.

HMAS Choules embarks on enhanced engagement with the Pacific

HMAS Choules has deployed on a month-long activity for maritime and land training with Australian regional partners in the Southwest Pacific.
HMAS Choules, an amphibious landing ship, departed Townsville on 19 February bound for Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, where Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel will undertake an extensive program of bilateral training with regional militaries and other government agencies.
