Australia and Indonesia unite to improve maritime security

A coordinated patrol between the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) to improve security along the shared maritime border has concluded this week in Bali, Indonesia.
Coordinated maritime patrol AUSINDO CORPAT 2018, the eighth iteration of the exercise, began in Darwin on 16 April following seven days of joint exercises between the two nations’ defence forces.

Defence Support to 2018 Commonwealth Games Concludes

The Commander of the Australian Defence Force (ADF)’s support to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games today thanked personnel for their efforts to ensure a safe and successful conclusion to the Games.

The ADF supported the Queensland Police Service and other state and federal agencies to search more than twenty-seven venues to ensure the public could experience a secure and enjoyable Games.

Anzac Day commemorations in France

Anzac Day 2018 marks 100 years since the battle widely regarded as the turning point of World War One.
The Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin, delivered the Call to Remembrance during the Dawn Service at the Australian National Memorial which now stands on the site of the Second Battle of Villers Bretonneux.

Royal Australian Navy Ships visit Vietnam

Royal Australian Navy’s HMA Ships Anzac, Toowoomba and Success have completed a port visit to Vietnam, as part of a three month South East Asia deployment.
During the port visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Anzac, Toowoomba and Success conducted a logistic resupply and local engagement with Vietnam People’s Armed Forces and local government officials.

Conclusion of immediate Defence emergency assistance to Papua New Guinea

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, today announced the return of Australian Defence Force (ADF) aircraft and personnel from Papua New Guinea (PNG) following the 7.5 magnitude earthquake and a series of severe aftershocks which affected the country’s remote Highland areas.
In response to a request from the PNG Government, Royal Australian Air Force C-130J Hercules, C-17A Globemaster, B300 King Air and three Australian Army CH-47F Chinook helicopter crews distributed emergency supplies to those affected by the disaster throughout PNG.

Royal Australian Navy Ships complete visit to Malaysia and the Philippines

Royal Australian Navy’s HMA Ships Anzac, Toowoomba and Success have completed concurrent port visits to Malaysia and the Philippines, as part of a three month South East Asia deployment.
During the port visit to Subic Bay, Anzac and Success conducted a logistic resupply, as well as local engagements with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and government dignitaries. This was Anzac and Success’ first port visit together during the deployment.

Joint Media Release – Prime Minister, Minister for Defence, Minister for Defence Industry, Minister for Defence Personnel – ADF Senior Leadership Appointments

The Government will recommend to the Governor-General a number of command changes to the Australian Defence Force.
Following confirmation, Lieutenant General Angus Campbell AO, DSC will be appointed Chief of the Defence Force when Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin AC completes his tenure in July.
Lt Gen Campbell joined the ADF in 1981 and has demonstrated outstanding leadership during his time as Chief of Army. His guidance will be instrumental as Australia modernises its military capabilities and continues its operations both in our region and around the globe.

Defence Industry Minister visits Malaysia to promote Australian industry

Efforts by Australia’s world-class defence industry to export internationally will receive a boost, with the Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, visiting Malaysia from 16-17 April 2018.
Minister Pyne will visit the Team Defence Australia stand at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2018 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. The stand at DSA 2018 showcases the wide range of products and services Australian defence companies are seeking to export.
