Investment priorities for the Defence Innovation Hub

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP today announced the Government’s investment priorities for the Defence Innovation Hub for the coming year.
Minister Pyne said the Government invested $1.6 billion into defence industry and innovation over the next decade, including $640 million to support the development of innovative technologies through the Defence Innovation Hub.

Visit to the United States

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, will travel to Honolulu and Washington DC from 18 to 21 September.
In Honolulu, Minister Payne will meet with the leadership of United States Pacific Command, including Commander US Pacific Command, Admiral Harry Harris.
“Australia’s Alliance with the United States remains central to Australia’s strategic security arrangements. The Australian Defence Force’s close relationship with Pacific Command is a vital part of that,” Minister Payne said.

Invictus Games athletes gear up for Toronto

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne today presented Australia’s Invictus Games team with their official team uniforms ahead of their departure to the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada.
Forty-three serving and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel who have been wounded, injured or become ill in service will compete in the international adaptive multi-sports competition that brings together more than 550 serving and former serving military personnel from 17 nations.

Ghosthawk brings the JSF to life in Australia

SRC Aus has expanded operations after winning a contract to produce data sets for operational missions for the future fifth-generation Air Force including the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter.
At the opening of SRC Aus’ new Canberra office today Minister Pyne announced the company had won a $17 million Defence contract to help deliver the Ghosthawk mission support system to be used to produce trusted mission data sets, providing jobs for 15 engineers in Adelaide and 8 in Canberra.

Australia and the United States celebrate 50 years for Naval Communication Station Harold E Holt

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, today congratulated the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the United States Navy on the 50th anniversary of the official commissioning of Naval Communication Station Harold E Holt in Exmouth, Western Australia.
Minister Payne said this long standing joint initiative has ensured our nation’s important strategic capabilities and borders are protected.

Joint Media Release – Prime Minister- Minister for Foreign Affairs- Minister for Defence- North Korean Ballistic Missile Launch

Australia strongly condemns today’s North Korean ballistic missile launch which flew over northern Japan and landed in waters to the east of Hokkaido.
While this morning’s test is likely that of an intermediate range ballistic missile, it flew further than any previous test conducted by Pyongyang.
This emphasises the grave and increasing threat North Korea poses to regional and global security and will only strengthen the determination of Australia and the international community to stand firm against North Korea’s illegal actions.

Australia’s Defence Industry on Show in London

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, today announced a record number of Australian defence industry companies would be showcased at the Defence and Security Equipment International exhibition (DSEI) in London as part of the Centre for Defence Industry Capability’s Team Defence Australia (TDA) delegation.
Minister Pyne announced a record 45 businesses would exhibit their products on the TDA stand, with a further five businesses exhibiting independently.
